DC and Back

This past weekend, the kids and I hit the road again. This time to visit our Nation's Capitol. As well as my Aunt Darlene & Glenn and Shannon and her family. My aunt was our tour guide since she's lived/worked in the area for a very long time. Shannon and her family met up with us Saturday morning and off we went! This was our first glimpse of the capitol.

The Cherry Trees were in full bloom!

This is a beautiful marble statue at the Smithsonian National Gallery of Art.

We don't leave home without our knitting!

The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers

View from the Lincoln Memorial

The Lincoln Memorial was one of the kids' favorite sites

Another favorite was the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. We had found a Veterans bracelet in our attic when we bought our house. So, we looked up his name on the Wall and did a pencil etching of it.

Sunday morning, before heading back to WV, we stopped at Krispy Kreme.

We all enjoyed watching the donuts being made. But not as much as we enjoyed eating them on the ride home!
