Adoption Day!

In just a few minutes I'll be heading to the county courthouse for an adoption hearing. This has been a long time coming and it's been cool to watch it all come together. It started a couple years ago when this little 9 year old girl started coming to church with her foster mother. The little girl fell in love with her Sunday school teachers and they fell in love with her too. So much so, that they wanted her to become a part of their immediate family. After going through the home visits and counseling sessions and everything else they had to endure, their day has finally come. The day when the law recognizes them as a family. They've been a family in their hearts for awhile now. Today is just a formality.

I can't help but think of another adoption day. How excited the parents must have been. And anxious and eager. And what a relief it must have been when the judge pronounced it so. Wish I could have been there.

Even greater than these earthly adoptions is the adoption available to all of us by our Heavenly Father. He's eagerly waiting for us to turn our hearts toward him and accept Him as our Abba Father. He's already turned His heart toward us. And as the ultimate judge, He has pronounced it so.

Teach a Girl to Knit...

And this is what happens. Here's just a few of the things I've made over the last few years. I recently became hooked on an internet based community called Ravelry. On Ravelry, I had the opportunity to put together a page of my projects. And I wanted to share them with you too!

My New Girl

A few posts back you can see the start of my head vase collection. Here is my latest addition. I found her at a thrift store in Hixson, TN. I don't know what her name is but I imagine it's something like Mrs. Penelope Snoodington. I just love the way she has her nose in the air and that bit of arrogance about her. And, of course, I love her yellow hat with the flowers on it. Welcome Mrs. Snoodington! Welcome to your new home!

The Squirrel

I've lived in WV for 3 1/2 years now. Yet I still see things that make me shake my head in wonder.

Today, I saw that a big, beautiful red squirrel had been hit by a car and was lying in the road near my driveway.

Much later this afternoon, I saw a man in a jeep cherokee drive by and look at the squirrel in the other lane. He continued down the road a short distance. Then he stopped his vehicle, put it in reverse and backed up alongside the poor deceased. Much to my shock, although, I'm not sure why I was shocked, he opened his jeep door, picked up the squirrel and placed it on the floor of his vehicle by his feet. He then, shut the door and drove off.

Even Frank was a bit taken aback. I'm thankful the poor squirrel didn't lay there and get squished all over the snowy road. But it leads me to wonder why the man took the squirrel home. What did he see in this piece of roadkill that was so appealing. Was it the red bushy tail? Was it the little squirrel hands stuck frozen in midair??? Was it his rotund little body that appealed to the man??? Is the poor little squirrel a prized specimen bound to be stuffed and mounted for the man's friends to oooh and aaaah over??? More than likely, the poor little squirrel was the man's dinner. I've learned a thing or two about squirrels and gravy and such. But that's a story for another day. Wherever you are little squirrel, rest in peas. I mean peace. Rest in peace, little squirrel. Rest in peace.

My Beloved Blog

I have neglected you so. I have been lured away by the newer, younger, hipper Facebook. But I've learned that facebook is just superficial fluff. It merely skims the surface. While you, dear blog, are my heart and soul. You know my deepest, darkest secrets. As well as my greatest joys. I share them all with you. You know me. You don't rebuke or criticize. You're just there to receive whatever I have to share with you. Waiting with open arms for me to empty myself of sadness and sorrow or happiness and fun. You are here, my Beloved Blog. And now I am here too!
